On May 8, Free Monem campaign member Mary Joyce was interviewed by Mark Fonseca Rendeiro, an activist-blogger, podjournalist, vlogger, and citizen reporter living in Amsterdam (pictured above). You can listen to the resulting podcast here.
Topics discussed include: Monem and his work, the Muslim Brotherhood, other jailed bloggers in Egypt, how much expression is too much expression, and tools for freeing Monem. The podcast was originally posted here on Mark’s Citizen Reporter website.
One note: The podcast’s musical intro is 2min 50sec long, so just hang in there.
Second note: Although Mary says in the podcast that Egypt had elections in 2004, elections were actually held in 2005.

The Muslim Brotherhood does not advocate violence. Historically, there have been few violent incidents that were committed by individuals within the organization without the approval of its leadership. Since the 60s, none of the MB members has been implicated in any violence. The Muslim Brotherhood goal is to reform our societies and governments through peaceful means. Under extreme government oppression, never did the Muslim Brotherhood called for any violent acts against the regime or any individuals or entities, and never will do under any circumstances.
The Muslim Brotherhood, however, supports armed resistance against occupation forces in certain countries like Palestine, which is not considered violence by vast majority of Muslims or fair minded people all over the world.
